VS at ICSSS 2026
Malte Josten attended the 11th International Cyber Security Summer School in The Hague, Netherlands, from August 16 to 21, 2026.

The Summer School brought together 56 master’s students, PhD students, and young professionals from 18 nations. In addition to lectures on various cybersecurity topics, it provided opportunities for networking and getting to know each other during joint (evening) events, such as participating in this year’s CyberSquad The Hague event. The participants also visited the headquarters of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) and Europol, where they were introduced to the organizations through presentations by their respective staff.

As part of the Summer School, all participants worked on “Challenges” posed by the partners and presented their results at the end. Malte Josten collaborated with 8 other participants on designing methods for detecting fake news websites and CEO fraud emails, and integrating these methods into BigPhish — a SaaS product by partner CFLW for identifying phishing websites.
