This seminar is designed to familiarize you with the often-overlooked but essential skills and experiences of pursuing a PhD or a scientific career in (computer) science. You will gain insights into the academic workflow, scientific communication, and the culture of the peer-review process, while actively engaging in writing, reviewing, and presenting scientific content.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the seminar, you will be able to:
- understand the structure and expectations of a PhD program,
- apply scientific thinking and writing skills,
- write a short academic paper using LaTeX,
- provide peer reviews according to academic standards,
- design and present scientific posters in a conference-like setting,
- communicate your research clearly through elevator pitches and oral presentations.
